To slow down and enter Jupiter\u2019s orbit, it has to perform a delicate maneuver \u2013 or else it will fly off into space, never to return.<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">\u30b8\u30e5\u30ce\u30fc\u304c\u6728\u661f\u306b\u5230\u7740\u3059\u308b\u6642\u70b9\u3067\u306f\u3001\u3053\u308c\u307e\u3067\u4eba\u9593\u304c\u4f5c\u3063\u305f\u3044\u304b\u306a\u308b\u7269\u3088\u308a\u3082\u306f\u3084\u3044\u901f\u5ea6\u306b\u9054\u3057\u3066\u3044\u307e\u3059\u3002\u30b9\u30d4\u30fc\u30c9\u3092\u843d\u3068\u3057\u3066\u6728\u661f\u306e\u8ecc\u9053\u306b\u5165\u308b\u305f\u3081\u306b\u306f\u3001\u5fae\u5999\u306a\u64cd\u4f5c\u3092\u884c\u308f\u306a\u3051\u308c\u3070\u306a\u3089\u305a\u3001\u3082\u3057\u5931\u6557\u3059\u308b\u3068\u3001\u63a2\u67fb\u6a5f\u306f\u5b87\u5b99\u306e\u679c\u3066\u306b\u5411\u304b\u3063\u3066\u3057\u307e\u3044\u3001\u6c7a\u3057\u3066\u623b\u308b\u3053\u3068\u306f\u3042\u308a\u307e\u305b\u3093\u3002<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Juno\u2019s engines need to fire at just the right moment and in just the right direction for just the right amount of time. The spacecraft will have to perform this tricky move \u2013 called the Jupiter Orbit Insertion \u2013 entirely on its own.<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">\u30b8\u30e5\u30ce\u30fc\u306e\u30a8\u30f3\u30b8\u30f3\u306f\u3001\u9069\u5207\u306a\u6642\u9593\u3060\u3051\u6b63\u78ba\u306a\u30bf\u30a4\u30df\u30f3\u30b0\u3067\u3001\u6b63\u78ba\u306a\u65b9\u5411\u306b\u767a\u5c04\u3059\u308b\u5fc5\u8981\u304c\u3042\u308a\u307e\u3059\u3002\u63a2\u67fb\u6a5f\u306f\u3001\u6728\u661f\u8ecc\u9053\u306b\u5165\u308b\u3053\u306e\u96e3\u3057\u3044\u52d5\u304d\u3092\u5b8c\u5168\u306b\u5358\u72ec\u3067\u6210\u3057\u9042\u3052\u306a\u3051\u308c\u3070\u306a\u308a\u307e\u305b\u3093\u3002<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/x__D7PcQ3JM\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h3>ORBITING JUPITER<\/h3>\n<p>Once Jupiter\u2019s gravity captures Juno, the spacecraft begins its carefully designed orbit that allows it to closely examine the planet while avoiding its harmful radiation. And because Juno relies on solar power, the orbit has to keep the spacecraft exposed to sunlight for its entire mission.<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">\u6728\u661f\u306e\u91cd\u529b\u304c\u30b8\u30e5\u30ce\u30fc\u3092\u6355\u3089\u3048\u308b\u3068\u3001\u63a2\u67fb\u6a5f\u306f\u614e\u91cd\u306b\u8a08\u753b\u3055\u308c\u305f\u8ecc\u9053\u304b\u3089\u59cb\u307e\u308a\u3001\u6709\u5bb3\u306a\u653e\u5c04\u7dda\u3092\u907f\u3051\u306a\u304c\u3089\u6728\u661f\u3092\u8a73\u7d30\u306b\u8abf\u3079\u308b\u3053\u3068\u304c\u3067\u304d\u307e\u3059\u3002\u305d\u3057\u3066\u30b8\u30e5\u30ce\u30fc\u306f\u52d5\u529b\u3092\u592a\u967d\u5149\u306b\u983c\u3063\u3066\u3044\u308b\u306e\u3067\u3001\u8ecc\u9053\u306f\u63a2\u67fb\u6a5f\u304c\u592a\u967d\u5149\u306b\u5f53\u305f\u308a\u7d9a\u3051\u308b\u3088\u3046\u306b\u3057\u3066\u304a\u304f\u5fc5\u8981\u304c\u3042\u308a\u307e\u3059\u3002<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Once Juno reaches Jupiter in 2016, it will follow a special orbit called a polar orbit, which takes the spacecraft over Jupiter\u2019s poles, traversing the planet in a north-south direction. Because polar orbits are best for mapping and monitoring a planet, many satellites that study the earth follow a similar path. This type of orbit has never been tried around Jupiter.<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">\u30b8\u30e5\u30ce\u30fc\u306f2016\u5e74\u306b\u6728\u661f\u306b\u5230\u9054\u3059\u308b\u3068\u3001\u6975\u8ecc\u9053\u3068\u547c\u3070\u308c\u308b\u7279\u5225\u306a\u8ecc\u9053\u3092\u305f\u3069\u308a\u3001\u6728\u661f\u306e\u6975\u3092\u5357\u5317\u65b9\u5411\u306b\u6a2a\u5207\u308b\u52d5\u304d\u3092\u53d6\u308a\u307e\u3059\u3002\u6975\u8ecc\u9053\u306f\u3001\u6728\u661f\u306e\u5730\u5f62\u6e2c\u5b9a\u3068\u89b3\u6e2c\u306b\u6700\u9069\u306a\u306e\u3067\u3001\u5730\u7403\u3092\u89b3\u6e2c\u3059\u308b\u591a\u304f\u306e\u885b\u661f\u3082\u540c\u69d8\u306e\u8ecc\u9053\u3092\u53d6\u3063\u3066\u3044\u307e\u3059\u3002\u3053\u306e\u6975\u8ecc\u9053\u306f\u3001\u6728\u661f\u3067\u306f\u8a66\u307f\u3089\u308c\u305f\u3053\u3068\u306f\u3042\u308a\u307e\u305b\u3093\u3002<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Juno takes 11 days to complete a revolution while Jupiter takes only 10 hours to spin around once. Mission planners designed the trajectory so that the spacecraft passes over a different section of Jupiter during each orbit. After completing the mission\u2019s 33 planned orbits, Juno will have covered the entire surface of Jupiter.<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">\u30b8\u30e5\u30ce\u30fc\u306f\u6728\u661f\u8ecc\u9053\u6295\u5165\u3092\u5b8c\u4e86\u3059\u308b\u305f\u3081\u306b11\u65e5\u3092\u8981\u3057\u307e\u3059\u3002\u6728\u661f\u306f1\u56de\u8ee2\u3059\u308b\u306e\u306b10\u6642\u9593\u3057\u304b\u304b\u304b\u308a\u307e\u305b\u3093\u3002\u30df\u30c3\u30b7\u30e7\u30f3\u30d7\u30e9\u30f3\u30ca\u30fc\u306f\u8ecc\u9053\u3092\u8a2d\u8a08\u3057\u3001\u5404\u8ecc\u9053\u306e\u9593\u306b\u63a2\u67fb\u6a5f\u304c\u6728\u661f\u306e\u7570\u306a\u308b\u30bb\u30af\u30b7\u30e7\u30f3\u3092\u901a\u904e\u3059\u308b\u3088\u3046\u306b\u3057\u307e\u3057\u305f\u300233\u5468\u306e\u8ecc\u9053\u3092\u5468\u56de\u3059\u308b\u3068\u3001\u30b8\u30e5\u30ce\u30fc\u306f\u6728\u661f\u306e\u5168\u9762\u3092\u89b3\u6e2c\u3067\u304d\u308b\u3053\u3068\u306b\u306a\u308a\u307e\u3059\u3002<\/span><\/p>\n<p>To ensure that it collects the best possible data \u2013 especially in making accurate measurements of the gravitational and magnetic fields \u2013 it has to get as close as it can to Jupiter. On each orbit, Juno comes within 5,000 kilometers (3,100 miles) of the planet\u2019s cloud tops. That might still sound like a great distance, but if Jupiter were the size of a basketball, the equivalent distance would be about 0.8 cm (0.315 inches).<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">\u53ef\u80fd\u306a\u9650\u308a\u6700\u826f\u306e\u30c7\u30fc\u30bf\u3092\u53ce\u96c6\u3059\u308b\u305f\u3081\u306b\u3001\u7279\u306b\u91cd\u529b\u3068\u78c1\u5834\u306e\u6b63\u78ba\u306a\u6e2c\u5b9a\u3092\u884c\u3046\u306b\u306f\u3001\u6728\u661f\u306b\u3067\u304d\u308b\u3060\u3051\u8fd1\u3065\u3051\u306a\u3051\u308c\u3070\u306a\u308a\u307e\u305b\u3093\u3002\u5404\u8ecc\u9053\u4e0a\u3067\u3001\u30b8\u30e5\u30ce\u30fc\u306f\u6728\u661f\u306e\u96f2\u9802\u306e5,000\u30ad\u30ed\u30e1\u30fc\u30c8\u30eb\uff083,100\u30de\u30a4\u30eb\uff09\u4ee5\u5185\u306b\u63a5\u8fd1\u3057\u307e\u3059\u3002\u305d\u308c\u306f\u307e\u3060\u5927\u304d\u306a\u8ddd\u96e2\u306e\u3088\u3046\u306b\u805e\u3053\u3048\u308b\u304b\u3082\u3057\u308c\u307e\u305b\u3093\u304c\u3001\u3082\u3057\u6728\u661f\u304c\u30d0\u30b9\u30b1\u30c3\u30c8\u30dc\u30fc\u30eb\u306e\u5927\u304d\u3055\u3060\u3063\u305f\u3089\u3001\u540c\u7b49\u306e\u8ddd\u96e2\u306f\u7d040.8cm\uff080.315\u30a4\u30f3\u30c1\uff09\u306b\u306a\u308a\u307e\u3059\u3002<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The three hours before and after closest approach is the most important time for Juno\u2019s science instruments. During the rest of its orbit, mission controllers are focused on navigating, steering, and sending data and status reports back to Earth.<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">\u6700\u63a5\u8fd1\u306e\u524d\u5f8c3\u6642\u9593\u306f\u3001\u30b8\u30e5\u30ce\u30fc\u306e\u79d1\u5b66\u89b3\u6e2c\u6a5f\u5668\u306b\u3068\u3063\u3066\u6700\u3082\u91cd\u8981\u306a\u6642\u9593\u3067\u3059\u3002\u6b8b\u308a\u306e\u6642\u9593\u306f\u30c7\u30fc\u30bf\u3068\u30b9\u30c6\u30fc\u30bf\u30b9\u30ec\u30dd\u30fc\u30c8\u306e\u30ca\u30d3\u30b2\u30fc\u30c8\u3001\u30b9\u30c6\u30a2\u30ea\u30f3\u30b0\u3001\u304a\u3088\u3073\u9001\u4fe1\u306b\u5272\u308a\u5f53\u3066\u3066\u3044\u307e\u3059\u3002<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Juno\u2019s close orbit also enables it to avoid Jupiter\u2019s harmful radiation, which is concentrated in a belt that loops around the planet\u2019s equator. In this region, tiny particles \u2013 ions and electrons \u2013 zip around nearly at light speed. Even though they\u2019re small, they pack quite the punch, and they can destroy a spacecraft\u2019s electronics.<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">\u30b8\u30e5\u30ce\u30fc\u304c\u6728\u661f\u306b\u63a5\u8fd1\u3059\u308b\u8ecc\u9053\u3067\u306f\u3001\u6728\u661f\u306e\u6709\u5bb3\u306a\u653e\u5c04\u7dda\u3092\u907f\u3051\u308b\u3053\u3068\u304c\u53ef\u80fd\u306b\u306a\u3063\u3066\u3044\u307e\u3059\u3002\u6709\u5bb3\u306a\u653e\u5c04\u7dda\u306f\u3001\u6728\u661f\u306e\u8d64\u9053\u306e\u5468\u308a\u3092\u56de\u308b\u30d9\u30eb\u30c8\u306b\u96c6\u4e2d\u3057\u3066\u3044\u307e\u3059\u3002\u3053\u306e\u9818\u57df\u3067\u306f\u3001\u5c0f\u3055\u306a\u7c92\u5b50 &#8211; \u30a4\u30aa\u30f3\u3068\u96fb\u5b50 &#8211; \u306f\u3001\u307b\u307c\u5149\u901f\u3067\u885d\u7a81\u3057\u3066\u304d\u307e\u3059\u3002\u305d\u308c\u3089\u306f\u5c0f\u3055\u304f\u3066\u3082\u3001\u5f37\u70c8\u306a\u885d\u6483\u3092\u3082\u305f\u3089\u3057\u3001\u63a2\u67fb\u6a5f\u306e\u96fb\u5b50\u6a5f\u5668\u3092\u7834\u58ca\u3059\u308b\u53ef\u80fd\u6027\u304c\u3042\u308a\u307e\u3059\u3002<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Juno\u2019s polar orbit takes it between Jupiter and this danger zone, avoiding most of the radiation and thereby keeping the spacecraft functioning for at least a year. But as the mission continues, Juno\u2019s orbit tilts, pushing the spacecraft closer to this treacherous region. In a year, the amount of radiation that\u2019s expected to bombard Juno is equals about 60 million dental x-rays.<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">\u30b8\u30e5\u30ce\u30fc\u306e\u6975\u8ecc\u9053\u306f\u6728\u661f\u3068\u3053\u306e\u5371\u967a\u306a\u5730\u5e2f\u306e\u9593\u3092\u884c\u304d\u6765\u3057\u3001\u653e\u5c04\u7dda\u306e\u5927\u90e8\u5206\u3092\u907f\u3051\u3001\u5c11\u306a\u304f\u3068\u30821\u5e74\u9593\u306f\u5b87\u5b99\u8239\u306e\u6a5f\u80fd\u3092\u7dad\u6301\u3057\u307e\u3059\u3002\u3057\u304b\u3057\u3001\u30df\u30c3\u30b7\u30e7\u30f3\u304c\u7d9a\u304f\u3068\u3001\u30b8\u30e5\u30ce\u30fc\u306e\u8ecc\u9053\u306f\u50be\u304d\u3001\u3053\u306e\u5371\u967a\u306a\u5730\u57df\u306b\u8fd1\u3065\u304d\u307e\u3059\u3002 1\u5e74\u9593\u3067\u30b8\u30e5\u30ce\u30fc\u304c\u53d7\u3051\u308b\u3068\u4e88\u60f3\u3055\u308c\u308b\u653e\u5c04\u7dda\u306e\u91cf\u306f\u3001\u6b6f\u79d1\u7528X\u7dda\u306b\u63db\u7b97\u3059\u308b\u3068\u7d046000\u4e07\u672c\u5206\u306b\u76f8\u5f53\u3057\u307e\u3059\u3002<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The radiation is so destructive that two of Juno\u2019s instruments \u2013 the jovian infrared auroral mapper and the camera, JunoCam \u2013 are only planned to last through Orbit 8.
