We can\u2019t understand the origin of the solar system \u2013 and how Earth came about \u2013 without understanding how Jupiter formed. There\u2019s still a lot we don\u2019t know about Jupiter: what is it made of? What lies beneath those beautiful, swirling clouds? These planets were assembled early in the process, before their young stars had the chance to absorb or blow away the light gases in the huge cloud from which they were born. Giant planets also play a big role in planet formation because their huge masses allow them to shape the orbits of other objects in their planetary systems, such as other planets, asteroids, and comets.<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">\u79c1\u305f\u3061\u306f\u3001\u6728\u661f\u306e\u3088\u3046\u306a\u5de8\u5927\u60d1\u661f\u304c\u60d1\u661f\u7cfb\u3092\u5f62\u6210\u3059\u308b\u969b\u306e\u57fa\u790e\u306b\u306a\u3063\u3066\u3044\u308b\u3068\u8003\u3048\u3066\u3044\u307e\u3059\u3002\u5de8\u5927\u306a\u96f2\u306e\u4e2d\u3067\u751f\u307e\u308c\u305f\u82e5\u3044\u661f\u304c\u8efd\u3044\u30ac\u30b9\u3092\u5438\u53ce\u3057\u305f\u308a\u5439\u304d\u98db\u3070\u3057\u305f\u308a\u3059\u308b\u524d\u306e\u65e9\u3044\u6bb5\u968e\u3067\u3001\u3053\u308c\u3089\u306e\u5de8\u5927\u60d1\u661f\u7d44\u304c\u5f62\u6210\u3055\u308c\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002\u5de8\u5927\u60d1\u661f\u306f\u3001\u5de8\u5927\u306a\u8cea\u91cf\u3086\u3048\u306b\u4ed6\u306e\u60d1\u661f\u3001\u5c0f\u60d1\u661f\u3001\u5f57\u661f\u306a\u3069\u306e\u60d1\u661f\u7cfb\u306b\u5b58\u5728\u3057\u3066\u3044\u308b\u4ed6\u306e\u5929\u4f53\u306e\u8ecc\u9053\u3092\u5f62\u4f5c\u308b\u3053\u3068\u306b\u306a\u308b\u306e\u3067\u3001\u60d1\u661f\u7cfb\u306e\u5f62\u6210\u306b\u3082\u3068\u3066\u3082\u5927\u304d\u306a\u5f79\u5272\u3092\u679c\u305f\u3057\u307e\u3059\u3002<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Although we have pieced together the basic story of Jupiter\u2019s origin, some important questions remain, and Juno\u2019s mission is to help us answer them. Exactly how early was Jupiter born? Jupiter might have formed at its current orbit, but some evidence also suggests that it could have formed farther from the sun before migrating inward. Because Jupiter formed at the same time as the sun, their chemical compositions should be similar. Determining the amount of water \u2013 and therefore oxygen \u2013 in the gas giant is important not only for understanding how the planet formed, but also how heavy elements were transferred across the solar system. These heavy elements were crucial for the existence of rocky planets like Earth \u2013 and life.
